Ballast Consulting Group
The accounting operations platform powering Ballast's client engagements.
Tally connects QuickBooks Online to every system where transactions actually happen — Ramp, Bill.com, Gusto, Stripe, Shopify, Amazon, and more to come every week — so a Ballast Consultant can orchestrate and organize your data for cleaner accounting and better insights.
Who Tally is for
Ballast's clients.
Ballast Consulting Group is your finance and accounting department. We aren't a software vendor — we're the team that runs the books. Tally is the internal platform we use to do that work, at no additional charge to the client.
It's a tool we built for ourselves that helps us expand our insights and capability for advisory beyond just the general ledger. Our clients get the benefit of every integration, every workflow, and every safety rail — without having to evaluate, license, or operate any of it themselves.
If you're a growing business looking for a finance and accounting department that actually understands the systems your business runs on, get in touch.
How Tally is different
Designed by people who close books.
Built by accountants, for accountants
Tally was designed inside Ballast Consulting Group — the team that actually runs finance and accounting for its clients. Every workflow, safety rule, and integration scope was decided by the people who close books for a living, not by software vendors guessing at the work.
Integrated with what you already use
Tally connects QuickBooks Online to the source systems where transactions originate: Ramp, Bill.com, Gusto, Stripe, Shopify, Amazon Seller Central, HubSpot, Outlook, SharePoint, and Google Sheets. No duplicate entry, no CSV exports, no copy-paste.
Read-only by default, write-by-exception
Most integrations are strictly read-only. Where writes exist (QBO journal entries, Ramp bill drafts, Bill.com bills) they are gated by approval policies, allowlists, and explicit human review. Tally cannot move money or change pay.
Single source of truth
Client configuration, integration credentials, and audit history all live in one place. Your accountant sees exactly what was connected, when it was connected, and what data each integration can reach — at any time.
The connected stack
Connected to the systems your business runs on.
Tally maintains live integrations with the major accounting, payment, payroll, e-commerce, CRM, and communication systems used by Ballast's clients. Each integration follows the same safety pattern: minimum scope, allowlisted endpoints, encrypted credentials, and revocable access.

What Tally does
Real accounting workflows, automated end-to-end.
Month-end close
Tally pulls transactions from every connected source, ties them out against the GL, surfaces unreconciled items, and lets your accountant clear them in one place. The close board tracks open issues from prior months so nothing gets lost.
Bill pay & AP
Vendor bills enter from Ramp inboxes, Bill.com, or direct uploads. Tally drafts them with the correct GL coding, attaches the source PDF, and waits for human approval before anything posts.
E-commerce reconciliation
Settlement payouts from Stripe, Shopify, and Amazon are matched against deposits in the bank feed. Fees, refunds, and chargebacks are categorized to the right expense accounts.
1099 tracking
W-9 collection, vendor classification, and prior-year 1099 imports are tracked per client with AI-assisted matching against QBO vendor records.
Security
Security designed to protect your most sensitive financial data.
Encryption at rest
All OAuth refresh and access tokens encrypted with AES-256-GCM. Keys managed separately from the database.
Allowlist enforcement
Every API call is validated against a per-integration path allowlist before transmission. Non-allowed methods or endpoints are rejected at the application layer.
PII filtering
Buyer and employee personally identifiable information is stripped from API responses inside the integration layer — before reaching dashboards or AI agents.
Revocable access
Every integration can be disconnected from the Tally settings page or revoked directly from the source system at any time.
U.S.-hosted infrastructure
Tally runs on Vercel, Railway, and Supabase, all hosted in U.S. AWS regions. HTTPS-only with HttpOnly secure cookies.
Audit logging
Every integration call is logged with timestamp, endpoint, and identity. Audit logs are available to client admins.
Availability
No extra charge for Ballast clients.
Tally is the internal platform we use to do the work, at no additional charge to the client. There is no per-seat fee, per-integration fee, or per-API-call fee billed to the client. The cost is included in your service fee.
Tally is not sold separately. Access requires an active engagement with Ballast. If you're interested in becoming a Ballast client, please reach out.
